The mission of the Matignon High School Library and Media Center is to teach the skills necessary for the effective use of ideas and information, to support the curriculum with a rich variety of materials, and to continue to motivate life-long learners to meet today’s challenges.
The Library offers a circulating collection of more than 5,000 non-fiction and fiction books as well as periodicals and newspapers for academic and personal use. The web-based catalog system enables students and faculty to search the collection. Additional resources include electronic databases, videotapes, computer programs and online reference resources. Students may use the research computers which are completely networked and Internet accessible. The Librarian instructs classes and tutors individual students in the use of these educational resources and technologies. Students are expected to use the Library for class assignments, independent research, and project development.
The Library Media Center is equipped with a Smart Board, high quality Eiki Multimedia projector and laptop computers for use in a scheduled supervised class setting. The Center also has a state of the art flat screen T.V. with a DVD/VCR player available for individual and small group student viewing. An area of the Library is set aside for quiet study. Other sections are available for individual and group work.
Food, drinks and cell phones are not permitted in the Library Media Center.
