1. How much is tuition? How is tuition paid?

  • Tuition and fees for the 2007-2008 school year are $7700.00.
  • Families may choose one of three payment plans.

2. What about books and other expenses?

  • The cost of books may vary from $150.00 to $400.00.
    • At the end of each academic year, Matignon High School hosts a "Used Book Sale" for the incoming freshman class. At this time students and families may be able to obtain many of the texts needed for the upcoming year at significantly reduced costs. Unfortunately, not all texts are available for resale.
  • Workbooks and lab manuals must be purchased new each year. Matignon has its own campus store where necessary items such as paper, binders, pens, pencils, folders, etc. may be purchased along with a full line of clothing (sweaters, sweatshirts, athletic pants, physical education uniforms, hats etc.).
  • All varsity and sub varsity athletic programs, as well as some other extra-curricular activities, require a user fee for participants. The fee is $100.00 per activity

3. Do you admit non-Catholic students to the school?

  • Yes. Matignon High School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion or national or ethnic origin in the administration if their educational policies, scholarships, athletic or other programs.
  • The scope of religious education at Matignon High School, apart from instructing students in the fundamentals of the Christian faith and Roman Catholic tradition is to teach young people how to better respond to the challenges of life and other people from the Christian perspective. A student’s freedom to believe or not to believe in a particular religion is respected. Doctrinal content is included and courses are taught from the Roman Catholic perspective.

4. Are Religious courses required of all students?

  • Yes. All students enrolled at Matignon High School are required to pass the prescribed Theology courses in each of their four years, attend liturgical celebrations, attend an annual retreat and participate in the required service programs, religious affiliation notwithstanding.

5. What criteria are used in the student selection process?

  • In determining the qualifications of a student’s application, several factors are considered:
    • current scholastic performance
    • standardized testing, when available
    • results of the Catholic High School entrance exam
    • a recommendation from a current teacher
  • The admission team will then evaluate the merit of a student’s application to determine eligibility for acceptance to Matignon High School.

6. What is the average class size at Matignon?

  • The average class size is 15 students per class, with many classes under this figure.
  • There will not be more than 30 students in any Matignon High School class.

  • There are 270 young men and women enrolled in grades 9-12.
  • The student: teacher ratio is 15:1.

8. Is Matignon accredited? Are teachers certified by the state?

  • Matignon High School is fully accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
  • The faculty consists of forty administrators, counselors and teachers, many of whom have completed advanced degree programs in their teaching area.

9. How is discipline maintained at Matignon High School?

  • The school administration is primarily responsible for the general discipline of the school. All staff members however have the authority and responsibility to maintain discipline around the school campus, in the classroom, corridors, locker rooms and student dining room etc.

10. Is there a dress code at Matignon High School?

  • Yes. As an independent Catholic high school, Matignon High School reserves the right to determine what is appropriate attire for the students for school and school sponsored activities. We expect that the students will comply with these expectations and that parents will assist school personnel in enforcing the dress code regulations. School is a formal situation and the dress code reflects and promotes a formal, business-like atmosphere.

11. What types of counseling services does Matignon provide?

  • The educational process at Matignon High School is one that seeks to merge academic learning with physical, spiritual and personal growth and maturation. When young men and women graduate from Matignon High School, they will have shown an adequate consistency in their work habits and in their grades. It is also hoped that graduates of Matignon High School will have matured to a point where they have learned to seek the advice of others, to investigate and evaluate their options, to make a decision, to carry out their decisions, to take responsibility for their decisions and their course of action, and to accept the consequences of their decisions.
  • The guidance staff assists the young people in the above process by offering a wide variety of services intended to aid in the maturation and development of students. The guidance staff is available to assist young men and women with every aspect of their personal growth and development.
